Software helps end guesswork

The horizontal directional drilling is a difficult and challenging, filled with unknown obstacles. Although it is not possible to eliminate all obstacles, tools planning software created by the manufacturers of drilling rigs help small and medium contractors to plan a drilling minimizing risks.

The planning software drilling were launched 15 years ago. However, these programs were very basic and only helped the contractor to design the pilot bore. The programs helped to streamline the planning process, but time-consuming and were not widely used by contractors. Many contractors just beginning to drill and hoped that drilling was successful.

Currently, planning drilling programs are more intuitive and easier to use. The creation time of a drilling plan decreased significantly and programs provide the contractor more information than ever about the hole and kicking. The program planning drilling avoids guesswork in determining elevations, estimates of slope of pilot drilling, mud volume required and buoyant force the barrel.

"Nowadays, the contractor need only collect data from topographic highs and the required depth of the drilling path, enter the data, press Plan and the program will produce a plan for each drill rod, " said Curt Dubbin, a specialist in solutions without gutters Vermeer Corporation.

In the past, software tools were used only in major pipeline projects. This is changing as more projects average above 10, 850 kg, are beginning to use these tools for drilling downhill and profile.

Another reason for the increased use: avoid existing underground facilities and record keeping.

"The ferrramentas planning drilling can also be used to help contractors create a plan to keep drilling away of existing underground facilities, " said Dubbin. "This becomes increasingly important because of the large amount of underground infrastructure continues to grow. Many programs also allow you to create a permanent record of drilling completed which can be used as a reference to help generate more accurate price estimates on future projects. "

Planning is very easy
There are several planning programs perforations in the market and each of them plays a specific role in the planning process. The following is a summary of what is available for drilling contractors:

Analysis - There are programs that help contractors and engineers to determine whether an open ditch or if a horizontal directional drilling is best for installation. Are considered nine different aspects, among them customer expectations, familiarity with technology, project site, soil sample reports, competition and risk factors. The software makes a detailed analysis and make several considerations to choose the best method and explains the recommendations.

Pre-planning - These softwares help the contractor to select the correct machinery and drill based on the type of pipe to be installed and in accordance soil. Contractors can use a calculator to push load to calculate the tensile load for a project directed horizontal drilling based on the specific type of pipe used, the pipe diameter and length of the hole. The calculator will also recommend the appropriate size drill the hole based on the specification specified in the project. A guide to soil classification helps contractors determine the soil type of the project and to match the drill and reamer suitable for the project. It also includes a process map fluid mixture that shows how much slurry is to be used in accordance with the ground conditions, and drilling machinery used.

Real uses of tools - part 1

HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate expensive car parts not far from the object we are trying to hit.
MECHANIC'S KNIFE: Used to open and slice through the contents of cardboard cartons delivered to your front door; works particularly well on boxes containing convertible tops or tonneau covers.
ELECTRIC HAND DRILL: Normally used for spinning steel Pop rivets in their holes until you die of old age, but it also works great for drilling rollbar mounting holes in the floor of a sports car just above the brake line that goes to the rear axle

Does take a while to understand legalese

, but not that difficult to become an expert in a narrow area relatively quickly
I find the less local county law library much friendlier than the closer law school library.
Usually law librarians are happy to show you where things are as long as you have a concept of the direction you want to head and ask “Where is… “ instead of “How do I ….(which is considered asking for legal advice)”
It is generally easier to start with background information sources on your topic. Many subject areas have looseleaf services that are kept up to date monthly and may be all you need

  • Avatar Marco Why is there such disparity between Crude and Brent oil prices?
Feb 15, 2009 by Marco | Posted in Investing

On Friday’s close, London Brent was trading at $45.17 and New York’s WTI at $37.07 a barrel. That equates to a difference of over $8 or, in other words, Brent is trading at almost 22% higher than WTI.

One would have thought the market fundamentals for both would be relatively the same. Hence, why the large difference in price?
